ARC REVIEW: The Confessions by, Tiffany Reisz

Amazon | B&N | KOBO | iBooks | Signed Paperbacks @ Jan’s Paperbacks

~ Synopsis ~

Three Sinners. Three confessions. And all the dirty little secrets you could possibly desire…

Father Stuart Ballard has been Marcus Sterns’ confessor since the young Jesuit was only eighteen years old. He thought he’d heard every sin the boy had to confess until Marcus uttered those three fateful words: ‘I met Eleanor.”

So begins the 40-page “The Confession of Marcus Sterns,” a moving coda to the RITA®  Award-Winning Original Sinners series. Originally published as a limited-edition paperback for the 2014 RT Booklovers’ Convention, and available worldwide for the first time.

This collection also includes “The Confessions of Eleanor Scheriber,” a companion 36-page story written exclusively for The Confessions.

And, finally, all secrets are revealed in “The Confession of Tiffany Reisz,” an exclusive, in-depth interview.

Be aware – if you haven’t read The Original Sinners series yet? (and why the hell haven’t you???) there may be spoilers ahead…

I was more than a little excited when I received an ARC of The Confessions. I was walking into my yoga class, scrolling through my emails and literally squealed, embarrassing myself and scaring some older woman. I turned around – walked out – and sat in my car for nearly twenty minutes, diving in head first.

I’m fairly new to the Original Sinners, I just picked them up last year and I’m still recovering from The Queen. I’ve been so enthralled with this series the last couple of months, reading all eight books and then going through each little story in-between, now indulging yet again with The White Years on Audible.

So when Tiffany Reisz said she was actually releasing a novella – The Confessions….an updated version of the 40-page limited edition? I was a tad bit excited…. just a tad.

In this short novella we’re given Confessions from both Soren and Eleanore. And then, god bless her, we’re treated to an indulgent Q&A with the Queen herself, Ms. Tiffany Reisz.

Be warned, if you haven’t finished the complete eight book series? The Confessions does contain spoilers. You’ve been warned.

Marcus Sterns sits down with Father Stuart Ballard, probably one of the funnest priests I’ve ever read. A priest that would prefer listening to Guns & Roses than to his own congregations choir sing. The man has the best sense of humor – one that will help him with Marcus’s (Soren’s) confession. Because it takes a brave and understanding soul…. no less a priest to handle the amount of burden bestowed to them with Marcus. Father Ballard is aware of Soren’s predilections…. he’s aware of the time he’s spent with Kingsley… he knows Soren’s deepest and darkest secrets. And deep down, you can tell he cares greatly for him…. from the angry fearsome boy he met, to the man and faithful priest he is now… there is great affection between these two.

To witness Soren being so open was…. quite jarring. You know he has fierce emotions when it comes to Eleanor & Kingsley, but to witness his vulnerability with Father Ballard… well, it was something I wasn’t quite prepared for. It was quite something to see, witness even as his confession flows out of him… honestly… brutally and strangely sanguine.

I fell for Soren all over again…. and perhaps even more. If that was at all possible.

But just when you think this story can’t get any better? Eleanor takes lead … and my favorite smartass switch is at her best in this short. She’s vulnerable – only to Father Ballard, because Eleanor is stubborn, questioning her own feelings and finding every little flaw within them. But her feelings are real…. true and something I had wondered about for a very long time. Eleanor’s Confessions were beautifully satisfying…

And just wait until the Q&A with Tiffany Reisz – you will not be disappointed.

REVIEW: Mr. Beautiful by, R.K. Lilley

Amazon * B&N * KOBO * iBooks * Audible

I’ve been remade four times in my life.

It’s a distinct feeling. Impossible to mistake. The very marked sensation of being unraveled and reknit into a new thing, a new person. It can be good or bad, helpful or harmful, but above all, it is unstoppable.

I was remade when my parents died, went from a happy childhood, into navigating a very dark world, with endless responsibilities, surrounded by enemies, and despairingly alone.

It happened again at the hands of a cowardly predator. I’d become angrier with that one, more cynical, and it undoubtedly turned me into the kinky f**k I was today.

The third happened swiftly. One day I looked up into a pair of pale blue eyes and saw the other half of my soul. Checkmate. I went from a completely controlled existence, a life where I made every decision with cold calculation, to a man overcome with feelings and emotions that were foreign but some how wonderful.

And all too soon after that cataclysmic change was this fourth one, this one where I begged a God I’d never entertained to spare the life of a woman that I could not live without.

(Following all of the characters from the Up in the Air universe in the years after the trilogy, with POV’s from James, Stephan, Frankie, Tristan and Akira.)

Oh, Mr. Cavendish….. how I missed you.

This review is soooooooooo over-due, good god! (I’m a bad blogger).

This book has been carted around on my Kindle forever! I read it back in July, I think I’ve been waiting to read it for so long because I knew once it was over? That would be it – no more Mr. Cavendish, no more Bianca, no more Stephan…. and I wasn’t sure I was ready for that. Because this series has been one of my absolute favorites since I dove head-first into the land of smut! It was one of the first trilogies I read after 50 Shades and I fell head-over-heels for James Cavendish, more than I did for Christian Grey!

So when the trilogy ended – I was heart-broken, even though R.K. Lilley gave us a beautiful ending – it was still sad to think that I wouldn’t be able to experience anything else with James & Bianca. So when she announced Mr. Beautiful was coming out – I was ridiculously happy!!

Getting a little inside information on how James dealt with everything that happened through the Up in the Air Series was really interesting – throw in the added bonus of Stephan’s POV not only with his relationship with Bianca, but also Javier. And we get to delve a little deeper to see just how painful his childhood was – growing up, knowing he was gay in a very religious household.

There are a lot of emotions running high through out this book – reminding me of things I’d forgotten from the series – as James tries to come to terms with what happened to Bianca and her father – and now, that they’re finally together – and she is his, in every.single.way. How is their relationship going to evolve from what they were to husband and wife?

This book weaves through a large span of time – both in the past and far into the future giving us more than a glimpse of James & Bianca’s happily ever after. It was brutal at times – beautiful in others and above all else? Hot.As.Fuck.

Fans of the series will not be disappointed!

5+++++ REVIEW: Rule (Songs of Corruption #3) by, C.D. Reiss

rule cover

Amazon * B&N * KOBO * iBooks

~Synopsis ~

Book Three in The Corruption Series. You must read SPIN and RUIN before reading RULE!

Theresa and Antonio.

They’ve been through hell. Antonio has a price on his head for turning his back on a marriage deal, and Theresa has no intention of turning her back on him. They’re devoted and strong, ready for anything…

A Love Tested To The Limit

And then, someone from Antonio’s past reappears. Someone who can give him everything he ever wanted, and who can shake them to their very core.

In this stunning conclusion to the USA Today Bestselling series, Antonio and Theresa will  have their passion, their devotion and their very will to live tested.

Beware -this is a series FINALE review and there maybe spoilers if you haven’t read Book 1 or 2.

You’ve been warned!

“Antonio straightened like a shot, straddling me. He took my hands from my face and filled my vision. The eye of the storm: a place of peace and calm, and the most dangerous space to be in. The eye made you complacent and comfortable, and the next minute, while you were enjoying the cloudless sky, you’d be swept into a violent wind.”

This book – Jesus. It was non-stop fucking action from beginning to end. We pick up right where we left off in Ruin – Antonio & Theresa are in Mexico – on the run – trying to figure out what their next move is when they get the news about Jonathan. He’s in the hospital. And anyone who has read the Songs of Submission series know’s why. So now, Theresa and Antonio need to get back to the USA – under cover, why? Because they’re presumed dead. And honestly, wanted to stay that way until things blew over. Not gonna happen now –

“There is no world without you in it. Nothing. I’m not talking about despair. I’ve lost people. This isn’t me being a child. There is one universe. Just one. And it’s between us. If you destroy that universe, you destroy me. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

No matter the issues running a muck in the Drazen family – the siblings are ALWAYS there for each other. So when Theresa finds out Jonathan is in the ICU – and isn’t doing well at all, she has to make the decision to head back to Los Angeles and face whatever obstacles she and Antonio left behind…. ones, that may cost Theresa her freedom and or both of them their lives.

I wanted to sit down and devour this book in one sitting – like I typically do with all of CD Reiss’s books. You can’t just pick up and stop whenever you want too with her characters – she has the ability to suck you in, digging her illustrating claws into you and not letting go. I was going nuts just 10% into this book and I may or may not have thrown it across my room a time or two. But I also wanted to savor it – because, this is the last in the series, the finale of which I have both been anxiously awaiting and dreading. I can’t say goodbye to Antonio – my Capo….. how is that even possible?

“Some things are in the stars. I was meant to protect you. And you were meant to rule.”

There is so much delicious-action-packed drama going on in this finale. Just when you think things can’t get anymore complex as Theresa & Antonio are trying to dodge bullets left and right – both figuratively and literally, more ghosts from the past come creeping in and throw everything into upheaval. Ghosts that can both satisfy and destroy Antonio…… and Theresa.

“My fingers memorized his face, the textures and lines, to the tempo of his rising urgency. I love you I trust you I love you I trust you. Warm pleasure spread over my body like spilled milk, until I was covered in it, toes curling, back arching, legs stiffening,. I held back a cry and came for him, only him.”

Their bond is stronger than ever as they weave through the chaos, and Antonio always trying to keep Theresa, his Contessa safe realizes she’s not someone he can keep behind him, she’s safer at his side and as this story unfolds, he realizes she may be more dangerous than he ever imagined.

“Was I made for Antonio by dint of my genetics? Was I an animal from birth? Had the ream me been dormant all this time?”

Theresa really finds herself in this finale – comes into her own if you will. This has been building all along as CD Reiss writes the best-strongest-most fucked up heroines. Theresa is all these things and more – beautiful – dangerous – frightened but truly brave and steady as she’s determined to bring her Capo out of the mess they’ve found themselves in – both of them with a price on their head, they’re in it together – through life ….. even if it means their death. She refuses to leave his side. Determined to fight along side him, for him, and to protect him as viciously as he protects her.

“She wanted defiance in her face, and I wanted to wipe it away with a fuck so hard we’d both break.”

Antonio has a hard time feeling Theresa’s strength build – she is his equal in every way but he can’t stop himself from wanting to keep her away from every dangerous thing surround them – even if it costs him his life – he’s constantly remind her that she must be strong – strong enough to go on with out him should he not make it out of this alive, yet he knows that if he were to lose her? It would utterly destroy him – she is his entire world – even when his past comes crashing back into his life with the force of a tsunami – he knows, without a doubt that Theresa Drazen is his soul mate – his entire world revolves around this crimson haired beauty who has brought him back to life.

“He took my hands, holding them between us. “Please, just do this for me. Don’t ask questions.” he turned my hand over and kissed my palms. “Don’t ask to be hurt. Don’t fight. Just love me.” His voice was soft enough to turn stone to putty, and all desire to defy him left me.”

I can’t gush enough about the perfection of this novel – it was so much more than I ever imagined and the absolute perfect ending to this amazing trilogy. The action – the lust – the fucking raw passion of two people who want one another so much I’m surprise my Kindle didn’t melt away in my hands.

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did embed TV story structure in her head well enough for her to take a big risk on a TV series structured erotica series called Songs of Submission. it’s about a kinky billionaire hung up on his ex-wife, an ingenue singer with a wisecracking mouth; art, music and sin in the city of Los Angeles.

Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in her bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to give the toilets a once-over every couple of weeks or chop a cord of wood.

~ Synopsis ~

Ava has watched her parents, Caleb and Maggie live the perfect fairy tale, the perfect love story, played out in front of her eyes her entire life. Her family is love, life and happiness. The Jacobsons are everything a family should be and Ava is loved and well taken care of. But the one thing that’s missing from her life is the one thing she’s waited for every day, the one thing her kind knows will make them complete, the one thing they thought was gone and lost forever; her significant.

Seth has lived with the Watsons his entire life. They’re the only family he knows, but he knows that there are things they keep from him. He knows that they lie and they do unspeakable evil, things from when he was a child that he can barely remember that cling to the edges of his memory. He barely remembers his real mother and all he knows is what he’s told. He doesn’t know what to trust. He wants to believe that the Watsons love and care for him, have his best interests at heart, but he isn’t so sure of that anymore when he finally – after a lifetime of waiting for her – meets his soulmate, and the Watson’s first act is to try to take her away from him.

The Virtuoso worlds collide, hearts are exposed, humans are endangered and the lives of Seth and Ava are changed forever. They’ll have to love without judgement or reservation, they’ll have to be wise and accepting beyond their years, they’ll have to forgive for things before they’ve even happened, they’ll have to trust without seeing, have faith without knowing and they’ll have to light their own way int he dark when everyone else is blind to show them the way. And more than anything…. they’ll fight like hell to keep each other.

***WARNING – SPOILERS AHEAD – If you haven’t read any of Shelly Crane’s Significance Series, there may be spoilers below – READ WITH CAUTION***

When Shelly Crane announced she’d be continuing the Significance Series I was ELATED! Caleb & Maggie were one of my absolute favorite book couples. Even though I’m typically not a fan of YA Paranormal Romances, I tried out Significance and devoured the next three books in anticipation for the fourth and final installment. When it ended? I was at a loss – even though it was perfection I REALLY wanted more.

Now, with Undeniably Chosen we’re once again thrust into the Jacobson Clan, Maggie now their Visionary and Caleb the head of the clan but it’s not either of them that takes center stage in this story – we now get to hear the story through their teenage daughter Ava. Ava is in college, working with her father’s company and desperately trying NOT to concentrate on the fact that she still hasn’t found her significant. Even though the significant are coming back slowly, but surely – she’s still frustrated knowing out there somewhere is her soulmate and hoping they find one another soon. But….. be careful what you wish for.

As Ava is walking out of a coffee shop she notices a tall, dark handsome boy – but she shrugs it off knowing full well it’s a waste of time to dwell on thoughts of someone she can never have. But …. when they touch briefly ….. the moment she’s been waiting for all her life happens. Your life can change in the matter of seconds, when you least expect it. To her surprise the boy she thought was so handsome turns out to be not only her significant….. but also, a Watson, the arch nemesis clan of the Jacobsons. Ava has grown up hearing unspeakable stories of the horrors her parents endured at the hands of the Watson’s. Now in what should be the happiest moment of her life she’s faced with the idea that she and Seth will never be together – how can they? How would their families ever allow it to happen?

This throws us into non-stop action as the Watson’s reemerge to wreak havoc up the Jacobson’s – hoping that Seth can gain them access to the Jacobson’s – not only destroying his significant, but also her entire family’s clan. The flash backs in story of what Maggie and Caleb had to endure reminds me exactly why I fell in love with this series – and Undeniably Chosen was no different. Ava & Seth’s story is both magical, suspenseful and you will read as fast as you can to find out what will happen next. The Virtuoso is on the verge of war – and Maggie as their visionary knows that the Watson’s may be the least of their worries.

Even though Seth & Eva are off to a rough start their bond is strong – just like Caleb & Maggie, Ava & Seth will have to face more obstacles than anyone their age should have to face just to be with the one they were destined to find.

Anyone who is a fan of the Significance Series will love the generational continuation of this story, and by the sounds of it …… this is only the beginning.

REVIEW: Beautiful Beloved (Beautiful Bastard #3.6) by, Christina Lauren

Amazon * B&N * KOBO * Audible * iBooks * iTunes

~ Synopsis ~

The seventh work in the New York Times and #1 internationally bestselling series that started with the Beautiful Bastard, Beautiful Stranger, and Beautiful Player novels. Featuring all the Beautiful characters…plus one tiny new addition to the group.

In Beautiful Stranger , finance whiz Sara Dillon met the irresistibly sexy Brit, Max Stella, at a New York City club. Through the series we’ve watched them learn to balance commitment with their less than private brand of playfulness. In Beautiful Beloved, Max and Sara take it to the next step. But the question is: Will they be able to find a balance between the wild sexcapades they aren’t ready to retire, and the demands of parenthood that come along with their new Beautiful bundle of joy? Parenthood: it’s not for the weak of heart.

Ohhhhh where to begin! I’ve been drooling over this book since it’s announcement, because although I love every single character this series is about – Max & Sara are by far my favorites. So when Christina Lauren said they were giving us more? I promptly pre-ordered that sucker and impatiently waited – and waited – and waited some more…. and last Sunday after 9pm I refreshed my Kindle about 100 times before it downloaded and I devoured it in about 45 minutes. Because, it was that good.

These two are now the proud parents of a beautiful bundle of joy, a little girl that has charmed them both – but with little sleep, and a labor that was more difficult than they had both anticipated they have to try and figure out how to make their way back to each other – the familiar heat between them is there, but they have to learn how to navigate through their new roles as parents, while realizing that they’re still people – two people that are very much in love and desperate for the sex life they once had.

Max is being too careful – because watching his wife throughout her 24+ hours of labor was hard on him, he treats her more delicately, and he’s worried that their once rough sex life will be too much for her now.

Sara, I think she’s more desperate for them to get back to their old ways than Max, but with the new mother role, she’s having to decide of they can get back the spark they once had – and she’s afraid that their once VERY adventurous sex life is possible now – throw in the fact that her body has changed and as a nursing mother – everything is so different now.

These two struggle like anyone in their position would starting a new family – but throw in Christina Lauren’s hysterical sense of humor….. and the same sizzling heat that these two shared in Beautiful Stranger and you’ve got a very sexy, very funny and relate-able story before you.

REVIEW: The Avoiding Series, by K.A. Linde

Book 1Add to GoodreadsBook 1: Avoiding Commitment

Amazon * B&N * KOBO

4 outta 5 stars!

Blurb: Jack and Lexi never had a typical relationship. After 2 years without speaking, she receives a phone call that changes everything. He unexpectedly asks her to convince the new girl, Bekah, that he’s ready to commit. Jack is calling now after everything they had been through because there is another woman. She can’t believe it. Follow Lexi in this heart wrenching drama as she relives her past relationship, or lack thereof, with Jack, and not just in her own mind, but to his fiance-to-be. Throw in Bekah’s hot brother who always seems to be in the right place at the right time, a past with more secrets to unravel than you can even imagine, and you get a recipe for disaster. Find out what happens to Lexi as she travels to Atlanta to get the closure she so desperately desires from Jack, and how the bumps of life seem to keep getting in the way.

Review: In the first book we’re introduced to the cast of characters – Lexi & Jack. They meet in college and have an instant chemistry. But Jack has a girlfriend (which, he forgets to mention to Lexi until it’s too late.) He’s an ass – a serious fucking ass. He reminds me so much of a guy I dated in my teenage years that it makes me sick and I wanted to jump into my Kindle and punch him in the balls. You can’t think that a man in real life can be this manipulative, callous or uncaring. But they can – believe me. (RANT OVER!). So this made it super related able for me. But, unlike Lexi I was smart enough to cut my ties and move on (eventually.) We get the whole back story – and the future in different progression so we’re getting our questions answered through out the book which I love. K.A. Linde has a phenomenal way of answering questions before you ask them. I love that in a book. You call for Jack, even though you know you shouldn’t in the very beginning, the way she reacts to his phone call out of the blue. It kicks you in that place, you try not to show anyone. I gave this book 4 stars – instead of 5 because it probably hit too close to home and I didn’t want to admit to myself there was more Lexi in me than there was. But that’s life, you live and learn and hopefully not repeat the same mistakes. But you’ll enjoy this ride down memory lane – and watching Lexi face her demons both figuratively and physically throughout this story.

4 outta 5 stars!

Blurb: Two Avoiding Series novellas written from Jack and Ramsey’s point of views from the first time they each meet Lexi with an EXCLUSIVE first look at the intro to Avoiding Temptation!!! Jack’s POV: Jack and Lexi never had a typical relationship. In the bestselling novel, Avoiding Commitment, you find out why. There are two sides to every story, and Lexi doesn’t even know this one. Get inside Jack’s head in this never before seen short story—the first time he meets Lexi. Ramsey’s POV: Ramsey recently went through a terrible break up. In the bestselling novel, Avoiding Responsibility, you find out why. Out for an interview for his father’s company, he meets a gorgeous girl that changes everything. Get inside Ramsey’s head in this never before seen short story—the first time he meets Lexi.

Review: This is a great little novella for anyone who enjoys the series. It’s from Ramsey’s and Jack’s POV – from when they each met Lexi for the first time. I gave it four stars, because it’s well written and I love a guys POV. But it didn’t really add much to the story of Jack – we all know he’s the guy you love to hate. But Ramsey, it was a little interesting to get a little more back story of when he first met Lexi.

4 outta 5 stars!

Blurb: Lexi has finally given up her once destructive relationships and moved onto bigger and better things with a sexy new man in town. Just when she is starting to figure it out with him, her world is tilted once again with a phone call from none other than Ramsey Bridges. A year after his entrance into her life, Ramsey is trying to make amends and does the one thing she never expects—invites her to Jack’s wedding. The wedding she had evaded at all costs. But no matter what she does, Lexi can’t seem to escape her past with Jack. But does she really want to? Despite the explosive chemistry between Lexi and Ramsey, she is skeptical about trusting him after everything that has happened. When things are amiss with him, she starts questioning his motives. Can Ramsey be the one to remove Jack from Lexi’s life permanently or should she move on with her blossoming new life?

Review: This was probably my favorite from the series because Lexi is FINALLY finding her backbone. But as always, she’s still flip flopping back and forth and can never seem to get Jack out of her system. Even as she’s trying to have a relationship with Ramsey. I get it – he’s hot, he loves her, but there’s just something off about him. And the fact that Rebeka is his sister? Um, helllloooooo MAJOR red flag. I don’t care how great of a guy he is, how good he is in bed – that’s just TOO much baggage for me. If Lexi REALLY wanted to move on from Jack – she would make it so he was completely out of the picture and not start dating his soon to be brother in law. But as always, there’s LOADS of drama, and secrets kept.

Lexi has a hard time trusting anyone – especially men. But as secrets get revealed she wonder’s if she can really trust any of them – and then of course, she has secrets of her own that …. well, come to light in a very unfortunate manner. But EXTREMELY entertaining. 🙂

3 outta 5 stars!

Blurb: Growing up, Chyna was handed everything on a silver platter. She never wanted for anything, except love—unconditional love from her parents. Love was a foreign emotion, and watching her parents love/hate relationship was never easy. So when it came to her personal life, she made sure she never had to relive that. With looks that could kill, it was simple for Chyna to be the love ’em and leave ’em kind of girl. And she had always been okay with it. She would rather be single the rest of her life then end up as miserable as her parents. So when a man rescued her after she was drugged in a night club, she never expected to start a relationship with him. But one chance meeting changes it all. Chyna is offered a once in a lifetime opportunity that could sky rocket her career, and she is forced to make a decision that could ruin everything.

Review This was not my fave – by any means. I like Chyna, she’s funny, ballsy and doesn’t have a problem putting people in their place. But she’s annoying. She flashes her money around like it’s nothing, she’s rude and even though she’s Lexi’s BFF? She’s kind of a crappy one. She’s judgmental, and doesn’t take anyone’s feelings into consideration when she’s spouting off advice. Sure, Lexi is annoying in her own right but at least her problems are real – and she admits she has faults. Chyna just seems to drink her’s away …. following through her glamazon lifestyle. The whole idea of her going to fashion week and the affair she has just wasn’t interesting for me – and I found myself skipping through a lot in this book. The situation with Adam, Lexi and John was entertaining. But that’s about it.

Blurb: Two years after walking out of Jack’s wedding, Lexi has finally put her past behind her. She has made up her mind about where her life is headed. This time, she is sticking to her guns, no matter what. That is, until a phone call shatters the fragile grasp she has on her new life. Lexi is forced to question everything she thought she knew about what she wanted, and life-changing events push her to reevaluate the very plans she holds so dear. Nevertheless, Lexi has to choose her true path. That might just mean deciding, once and for all, that she doesn’t have to answer to anyone but herself. In this highly anticipated final installment of the bestselling Avoiding series, follow Lexi as she juggles a new career, a new city, and the burgeoning affections of three very different men.

Review: *SPOILERS*

Where to begin with this one – hmmm. I finished it last night and I’m going to be honest, it was a chore to get through. I gave it four stars, because although the book is well written (though, about a dozen type-o’s) I just couldn’t get into the mix again. Lexi was driving me crazy with all her indecision about her relationship with Ramsey. I really wanted to tell her to shit or get off the pot!

She doesn’t trust him – pure and simple. But she spends 3/4 of the book trying to decide if being with him is the right decision – even though she has numerous people telling her just do what makes you happy. And of course, there’s always drama with Parker. Lexi is NEVER going to let that one go. Especially now that Ramsey is working with her day and night. How can someone move on from trust issues with an ex when her boyfriend is working along side her all the time? It just plants seeds of doubt that bloom into some pretty ridiculous fights.

All the major players are back – Jack & Becka, Ramsey, Parker, Chyna & Adam and then you throw John into the mix things are bound to get dramatic. Lexi finds herself in more than one uncomfortable situation … and always doubting her relationship with Ramsey. I kind of felt bad for him through out this book. He seemed to get a really bad wrap – some through is own fault, but as things unfold all I kept thinking was WTF?!?!?! Seriously???????

And always, there’s Jack. Lexi STILL can’t get over him and their past. She can’t even admit to herself that she’s still in love with him 10+ years later. After all the heartbreak, all the bullshit they’ve been through he’s still a major constant through out her life. He’s the one she compares everyone too. And things start to get sticky as his impending divorce from Becka comes to light….

There is SOOOOO much going on in this book – and I found myself skipping over numerous overly detailed paragraphs of stuff I just didn’t feel were important to the story. But I still gave it four stars because I enjoyed the series and KA Linde made me feel for these characters. Even if some of it was bad, she still made me FEEL something. Irritation is still an emotion – and evoking emotion from someone from written words is still pretty amazing. 🙂

She ended it in a way that didn’t leave me wanting more – I wouldn’t say she put a pretty red bow in it. But she left it with a REAL ending. A REAL ending that Lexi wouldn’t shy away from – she got everything she’s ever wanted. But I’m not going to tell you what that is. 😉

Good bye Jack – Lexi – Ramsey – and screw you Becka!

*CONTAINS SPOILERS* If you have NOT read the First Book: Down to You, beware, this may contain some spoilers from Book 1.

Blurb: M. Leighton’s Down to You was just the beginning. “Up to Me has even more shockers in store!” (
For Olivia, romantic bliss has never felt so right as it does with Cash. Unpredictable, except when it comes to satisfying her desires, Cash’s bad boy reputation is well-earned, but he’s turning his life around with the one woman who accepts him for who he is. Until strangers from the past turn Olivia and Cash’s world upside down. What they want is something only Cash can give them. And if he doesn’t deliver, then they’re taking the one thing that Cash values the most. Olivia always knew that in falling for Cash she was likely to get burned. But this new threat is beyond anything she imagined. Now she has to trust Cash with her life—and for Olivia that’s much easier than letting go, and trusting him with her heart.

After the smack in the face and one of the biggest plot twists I did NOT see coming in Book 1 – we pick up where we left off. Cash & Olivia are loving blissfully happy. Cash is determined to become the kind of guy Olivia deserves. Even though Olivia fell for him, bad boy ways and all – Cash has found his home – with Olivia. The two complete one another and accept each other for who they are, flaws and all.
Cash opens up to her about his father, about his past – and the reason he did the things he did throughout book 1. He’s still hell bent on finding out what happened to his family years ago in the hopes he can help get his father out of prison. But just as things seem to be settling down for these two? BAM!!!!

M. Leighton smacks us into a tailspin of mystery, suspense and WTF all wrapped up in some pretty hot action between these two. I read this book ages ago, desperate for it after the cliffhanger ending of Down to You. It wasn’t the the WORST cliffhanger, but M still left me wanting more and more and more. Because let’s face it, Cash & Nash are probably the hottest twins I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading about. And the scenes between them and Olivia? A-hem, made me blush ….. and that’s pretty hard to do now-a-days, since I’ve been come what I like to call a Smut Connoisseur. If that wasn’t bad enough, I’ve read both books 3 times and got the audiobooks to both so I can enjoy them on my iPhone 🙂

The stories are far from JUST smut, there are real feelings involved. I cared for these characters. I was frustrated with Olivia – I wanted to smack Cash when he was being annoying – and I wanted to melt in Nash’s arms when he wanted to be consoling. And always, wanting to slap Marissa in the face 😉

And that’s how you know a writer is doing what she loves – she makes you care about these characters, and talk about them like they’re real people. Which I do all the time. love-fictional-characters
