Where the hell have you been?

Maybe you’ve been asking that over the last month or two….. or maybe not? Forgive me – life got in the way and I’m just now crawling out of the worlds WORST book funk of my life. I hadn’t picked up my Kindle since the beginning of April – until about 2 weeks ago. This is UNHEARD of! I carry my Kindle around with me everywhere I go – just in case i get a minute to dive into my story of the moment. But, like most book funks – they start slow with a book you may or may not have enjoyed – or you get sucked into a TV show you’ve been waiting to come back. Whatever it is – this one? Was.The.Worst.

Work (2 jobs) – Life – Summer – Vacation and finally I’ve been able to pick up my Kindle again and get that excitement at diving headfirst into a story. I’ve even stopped myself from reading a few books I’d been waiting FOREVER for – just because I knew I wouldn’t be able to really appreciate them until my funk had passed – I was DESPERATE for Gus by Kim Holden, and ShutterGirl by C.D. Reiss, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to enjoy them until my funk had passed.

So June came, my husband and I were off to Wales for three weeks to visit his family and friends – I figured this might be what snaps me out. 10 hours on a plane? No work – just relaxing around the Welsh country side? Not so much – but….. of course, while I was there Grey, by EL James was released and I was so excited for this book I made my husband run down to the bookstore at 8am when they opened and snatch it first thing so I could read it on the two and a half hour train ride to Cardiff that day. Maybe it was Grey that snapped me out of it – because EL James and her Fifty Shades is what made me love reading again and devouring novels left and right, sometimes five in one week. So when I finished Grey – I was ready and dove head first back into my books.

Though, you could say my obsession for different book covers hasn’t stopped. In the four years my husband (than fiance’) went back and forth between the UK and USA, before he moved to Oregon for good, I would come back from the UK with suite cases FULL of books – paperbacks, hardbacks – some I’d already had sitting on my shelves at home, but not this cover – not this beautiful UK Cover….. and this trip? Was absolutely no different.

Do you know what the best thing about the UK is? Limited Space. Because that’s the ONLY reason I can think of as to why I found most of these amazing books in charity shops and flea markets around Wales.

The Fifty Shades Trilogy – EL James

This Man Trilogy – Jodi Ellen Malpas

Harry Potter with original UK Covers

The Original Sinner’s Series 1-3 – Tiffany Reisz (Which I’ve wanted to read FOREVER)

Ugly Love – Colleen Hoover. (You have no idea how excited I was about this one.)

Eleanor & Park & Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell

I’m sure there were others, and so many books that I nearly had to pay for over weight baggage. Nearly 22 books came home with me.

Sylvia DayRebecca DonovanthoughtlessI can’t wait to see SC Stephens on July 18th and get this beauty signed. I found this in a bookstore after searching and searching for anything by her – finally, on my second to last day in Wales I found it!

Sure, I could have ordered these off of Amazon and had them delivered – but there’s nothing more fun than a hunt!

I can’t be the only one that goes nuts over different covers – can I?

Stay tuned – I’ve been reading books left and right the past two weeks – more reviews to come!
