~ Synopsis ~
My name is Calla Price. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m one half of a whole. My other half– my twin brother, my Finn– is crazy. I love him. More than life, more than anything. And even though I’m terrified he’ll suck me down with him, no one can save him but me. I’m doing all I can to stay afloat in a sea of insanity, but I’m drowning more and more each day. So I reach out for a lifeline. Dare DuBray. He’s my savior and my anti-Christ. His arms are where I feel safe, where I’m afraid, where I belong, where I’m lost. He will heal me, break me, love me and hate me. He has the power to destroy me. Maybe that’s ok. Because I can’t seem to save Finn and love Dare without everyone getting hurt. Why? Because of a secret. A secret I’m so busy trying to figure out, that I never see it coming. You won’t either.
I’ve had this book sitting in my Kindle for months, I grabbed it right after it got re-released on Amazon. I’m not sure what happened, but for whatever reason it had been pulled – someone complaining about it and Amazon yanked it. Why? Is beyond me – especially after devouring it in about an hour and a half. I could not put it down – at all.
The beginning of the story – the very first chapter will grip you, and as we delve further, things just keep happening left and right, there are so many secrets swirling around in this story that I wasn’t sure I’d be able to keep up – but Courtney Cole weaved them beautifully, and agonizingly teasing us throughout the ENTIRE book – just when I thought I had if figured out – another chapter went by and BAM I’m thrown for a loop again – yelling at my Kindle – WHAT? WTF WAS THAT? What now????
And you will too – because it’s that kind of story. Calla is struggling – because of a lot of things, her brother, her twin – Finn, the other half of herself is on the verge of something – and she’s not sure how to save him this time. They’re both off to college in the fall and will be separated from one another for the first time. Calla is torn because she wants to be able to help him – she wants to be there for him, but I get the feeling that she’s more afraid of not having him there her sake, not just his.
Then Dare walks in – a boy, perhaps more of a man and Calla is instantly drawn to him, sensing something very familiar about him, he moves into the Cottage House on her families property and these two forge a very sexually charged friendship. The tension ….. good lord, the fact that the author can write in such a way – giving me goose bumps more than once, without Calla and Dare even properly touching? Well – that in itself is why this book is so phenomenal.
When I hit the 3/4 mark in the book I went searching for Book 2, which is always a good sign that a book is amazing – and thankfully, Book 2 just came out a few days ago.
