I have been in the BIGGEST reading slump of my life …. since November, I didn’t even finish my reading goal of 100 books for 2014 – I came close, 84 isn’t too bad, especially when I didn’t even touch my Kindle for over two months towards the end of the year. I’ll use my working 50+ hrs a week and the holidays, but with the new year upon me I dove head first, and Tina’s book? Holy …… wow, what a story to knock me out of my funk.
I’ve worked in law enforcement for the past eight years, so this story hit pretty close to home for me. The adrenaline rush reading what Erin and Adam were going through was so exciting, fun, sexy and gave me goosebumps throughout. The story was very suspenseful as Tina Reber weaves us through a story of two very emotionally damaged people, both suffering from the horror’s of their past – just trying to trudge on in the present, but when these two meet, under the worst of circumstances…. you can feel it – the chemistry wove out of my Kindle, up my arms and gave me the shivers…. and it didn’t stop there – believe me.
Erin, an emergency room doctor – just having gone through the worst night of her professional and personal life meets Detective Adam Trent – when a misunderstanding lands her in cuffs – and not in the fun way….. Erin and Adam have an undeniable attraction, one Adam is hoping to explore – but at every turn Erin seems to be running away from him – pushing him away for reasons unknown, she doesn’t seem to think she deserves to be cared for – to be loved – that someone will stick it out with her, but Adam is not like any of the men in her past. Erin just needs to stop and realize the man in front of her isn’t her past – but possibly her future.
At times I wanted to ring Erin’s neck, but as the story unfolds – my questions were answered and I felt for the girl – hard. Adam too – they have both been through unimaginable pain in their lives, and starting out a new relationship is hard in itself, let alone bringing your baggage along.
This is the first book in her new Trent Brother’s series – and I can’t wait for book 2 – Amped where we get to meet Jason Trent.
