So last weekend was as MASS read-a-thon! I devoured nearly 6 books from Friday night until Sunday night when the power went off and I only had 10% felt of my Kindle Battery (reader’s worst nightmare.) Feel in love with Flat-Out-Love and Flat-Out Matt by Jessica Park. And read some pretty interesting smutty smut smut. I even polished off a freebie that had been lingering in the back corner of my kindle almost forgotten – Mohawk Moon.
It wasn’t bad – but then, it didn’t have any BDSM in it as the other two I’d read before it. So it was a nice change of pace. Seems to be a short serial series, Mohawk Moon being the first, I’ll probably check out the rest.
On with this weeks recs!
The 2nd installment in Steph Campbell’s Ground Quinn Series. First book was good, cute – sad. So I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with Quinn and Ben. But from the title and blurb, I’m afraid we’re in for a rocky road.
It’s been a year since Quinn’s life was changed for good by that Christmas kiss from Ben.
A year spent getting her life together. No more crazy parents looking over her shoulder, no more self-destructive behavior or secrets. Now, she and Ben share everything— including a tiny apartment, and a beautiful love.
Since he met Quinn, Ben’s life has been full of change. After finally standing up to his mom, he’s cut ties with his family and moved across the country with the only girl he’s ever wanted. But there’s something to be said for feeling needed, and he’s not sure that he is anymore.
When Quinn’s accepted into a month long culinary program in Italy, she’s ecstatic. But while she’s in a gorgeous country learning gnocchi and pesto, Ben’s blowing off her calls and pulling back.
But someone from Ben’s past walks back into his life, and he finally feels like he has a purpose again. Someone to take care of… Someone to save.
When Quinn returns, and the who’s and why’s of Ben’s behavior are revealed, how does she have any choice but to walk away from the only guy she’s ever loved?
And how can Ben ever learn to let her go?
Book 1 in the Black Falcon Series by Michelle A. Valentine
For the last four years, good girl Lane has regretted breaking up with Noel Falcon. She thought she was sensible when she told him his dreams of being a rock star would get him nowhere, but now that he’s a rock god and her career is stagnant, she realizes just how wrong she was. When Noel hires the marketing company where Lane is an intern, she’s forced to see him again. If she wants to land her dream job as executive within the company, she has to win him over and secure his account. Too bad Noel is still pissed at her for breaking his heart.
When Lane’s company flies her to a Black Falcon concert to gain Noel’s attention, emotions run high the moment she sees him and realizes she’s far from over him. But Noel’s countless trysts with groupies and his cocky attitude make Lane believe he isn’t the same guy she once loved—now he seems to only want her body. Then after Lane discloses she needs him to procure a job, Noel proves he’s a changed man by forcing her to go on the road with him in order to get it.
After Lane reluctantly takes Noel up on his offer, she becomes willing to do whatever it takes to keep him satisfied, even if it means succumbing to his seductive ways. Lane soon finds deception is a dangerous game and she’s not the only one playing.
