So far, 2013 has brought a lot of sequels – and finale’s of trilogies. Yet, I’ve still managed to get sucked into more series than I’d like. Because there’s nothing worse then getting engrossed in a book only to be left hanging for months until the next book comes out – but that’s what keeps us coming back, and that’s what makes the next book that much sweeter. #10: Consequences, by Aleatha Romig

This book is beyond a mind-fuck. Anthony Rawlings and Claire Nichols have a very disturbing relationship. Anthony is gorgeous – rich – and abnormally controlling. Claire is thrust into the relationship where she’s told what to wear, what to eat – and when and where they will fuck. There is a lot of back and forth between past and present, so you get that lovely built up frustration – trying to figure out what the hell is going on – and why. I had a VERY love hate relationship with both Claire and Anthony that left me scratching my head all the way to book 2. Be aware it is VERY long – but worth the read.

There is something about a novel that starts at the present but moves you through the past – as if it’s the present. Giving you that slow build as you get to know your characters. Well Willow Aster is a master at it – she dives in head first giving you a tease of what’s to come when Sparrow FIsher and Ian Sterling run into each other at the airport – and wouldn’t you know it? They’re on the same flight – sitting next to each other. You can tell there’s issues and Ian is enraptured by her, but Sparrow is desperately trying to stand her ground and keep him at arms length. Then we’re let into a little secret of how they met and how they came to be in and out of each other’s lives for years – yet – unable to hold onto that relationship no matter how hard they tried.

When Bianca meet’s Mr. James Cavendish on one of her first class flights – she’s immediately taken with him. He’s a billionaire who owns most of the well known hotel chains through out the world. He’s passionate and has a flair for dominance and control. He HAS to have Bianca – he wants her more than he’s ever wanted another woman. In Flight is Book 1 in the UP in the Air Series – it definitely registers in my 5 outta 5 stars and hot-as-fuck categories. James is hard and controlling, yet carrying and sensual – he’s the perfect mixture of beauty and pain. And Bianca has no issue serving herself up for the taking.

Damien Stark takes Nikki Fairchild by storm – he’s rich, powerful and gorgeous. But behind the facade he has a heart – and it’s torn in pieces. He’s damaged – secretive and Nikki isn’t sure she can handle all the baggage that comes with Damien. But she soon learns that she can’t be without him – regardless of his past and the hold it has on their future. He has a fetish for tying her up and taking complete control – which leaves us all a little wonton.

The whole Beautiful Bastard series would end up on this Top 10 of 2013 – but then I’d have limited room for the others. So I’m lumping in Beautiful Bastard, Beautiful Stranger and Beautiful Bitch all in one. The series is definitely in my 5 outta 5 + stars and hot-as-fuck. We have characters who have real personalities and will make you laugh – as well as beg for more. Chloe & Bennett in Bastard are hilarious as they bounce back and forth with their snarky comments. Max & Sara are one of the sexiest couples I’ve ever read. There’s something about him being British – and she thinking she has the control of the situation. There’s a roll reversal where she is wanting to keep things simple and just sex – and Max actually wants to date her. It’s an interest twist. Beautiful Bitch is a short novella where we get to see Chloe & Bennett further their relationship – with all the lovely snarkiness we fell for. I can’t say enough good things about this series.

I can’t even put into words the amount of love I have for this story. Losing Hope is Dean Holder’s story of Hopeless. Told through his words – through his pain – through his experience. It’s not just a male POV book to reap the rewards of Hopeless. It’s a stand alone novel that leaves you heart broken, answering questions you didn’t know to ask after you read Hopeless. Hopeless knocked me away last year – leaving me in a Kleenex blubbering mess – and my husband telling me c’mon! It’s just a book!
Well had he been around when I finished Losing Hope – he would have rolled his eyes and walked away. I fell a little hard for Holder in Hopeless, but you get to fall all over again – and even harder through Losing Hope. The good – the bad – and the ugly all come full circle and leave you with a sense of hope for these two.
