Book 2 in Christina Lauren’s Beautiful Bastard Series
Escaping a cheating ex, finance whiz Sara Dillon moved to New York City and is looking for excitement and passion without a lot of strings attached. So meeting the irresistible, sexy Brit at a dance club should have meant nothing more than a nights fun. But the manner–and speed–with which he melts her inhibitions turns him from a one-time hookup and into her Beautiful Stranger.
The whole city knows that Max Stella loves women, not that he’s ever found one he particularly wants to keep around. Despite pulling in plenty with his Wall Street bad boy charm, it’s not until Sara–and the wild photos she lets him take of her–that he starts wondering if there’s someone for him outside of the bedroom.
Hooking up in places where anybody could catch them, the only thing scarier for Sara than getting caught in public is having Max get too close in private.
We left off in Beautiful Bastard with Chloe & Bennett moving to NYC – on the verge of opening their new branch of Ryan Media in Manhattan. Chloe’s trying to convince her BFF and fellow Ryan Media intern Sara Dillon to come with them and start what will absolutely be the most exciting move for her career. Sara would be ideal in their finance department, but Sara is stuck in Chicago, engaged to her politico fiance’ Andy. But when Sara can no longer deny the cheating rumors swirling around them in the tabloids, she does something in the heat of the moment – calling Chloe from the airport on her way to NYC asking for the job. It’s both a happy and sad moment for Sara…. but one that will definitely be setting her off on an adventure.
The girls are out on the town, celebrating Sara’s arrival and Chloe’s engagement. Dancing the night away and drinking girly shots; blow jobs, screaming orgasms and the like… it’s then, bellied up to the bar for another round that Sara is approached by Max Stella. A tall, British import who offers her three fingers of (drink? or maybe something else?) Their innuendo is hot – flirty and hilarious, the very reason why we read these books in the first place. That perfect meeting, where you know something could be life changing and you’re just DYING to get into the depth of these two.
I couldn’t put this book down from the second I started it – unfortunately I started it around 10pm one night and was up until nearly 3am – the next day at work was DEFINITELY a Starbucks morning. Christina Lauren write so fluidly together – they’re funny, their stories are sexy – and sometimes they’re HOT-AS-FUCK and I find myself re-reading paragraphs.
I could gush about this story forever – it’s one of my absolute all time favorites. There is something so sweet and vulnerable about Sara, and even Max. Christina Lauren always write a strong female lead – and though the men in their series are bold as well…. they don’t hold a candle to the woman they call in love with.
And if you love audio books – do yourself a favor and download every single one of the books in this series. The narrators are amazing – really bringing the stories to life. And, in Beautiful Stranger? You’ll be able to hear Max Stella’s gorgeous accent roll off those filthy words….
About the Authors, Christina Hobbs & Lauren Billings
Lauren Billings (but everyone calls her Lo) has a Ph.D. in neuroscience and before she made writing her full-time job, would spend her days doing nerdy research – type things wearing a lab coat and goggles. She is silly Mommy to two littles, wife to one mountain biking homebrewing scientist, bestie to a shoe-stealer, and an unabashed lover of YA and romance.
Christina Hobbs (but you’ll always her Lo call her PQ) used to spend her days in a junior high counseling office surrounded by teenagers. These days you’ll find her on Tumblr. She is married and absolutely not old enough to be the mom of a 14 year old (right??), think she’s the luckiest person in the world to write books with her best friend, and is an unapologetic lover of boy bands and glitter. She also likes to steal Lo’s shoes.
